Good job, boys!

On Monday, Dirk and Jonah rode their bikes to the Swan Falls Dam--28 miles. Jonah was a real trooper. It took them about three hours. The rest of us came in the van with food.
Kept the van in this picture--with the bikes on top. The last stretch of road comes up to the ravine and drops (quite dramatically) in switchbacks down to the reservoir. It was quite a ride! Go cycling merit badge!

for FHE that night, we called Grandpa Lish and listened to a story on speaker phone. He told us about his brother Charles (Snookie) who died while fighting in WWII. He was in the mechanized cavalry fighting in northern France. It was a nice end to a great Memorial Day!

Turned a Deeper Shade of Cool

Had to buy some sunglasses for the kids at the last minute for our picnic. Found some nice ones at the local grocery store for $1.98. And not the el cheapo doller store quality--UV protection, the whole nine yards. The kids were pretty excited. Jonah had to wait until after his bike ride to get a pair. They were stil on sale--(YES!)

A Blink Bio of Binki Baby

Mom: Okay Kam...you are almost two. C'mon it's time to throw your binki away.
Kam: WHAT! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?
Mom: Nope, say goodbye.
Kam: Ex-keee-use ME!
Kam: Do I look like I am ready to say goodbye to my binki?
Mom: too bad so sad...it's gone.
Kam: Hmm...well, at least I still have these cool shades.

Kam: Man, where did all these fingerprints come from?

Kam: okay mom...I've thought it over. You're right. Binkis are SO overrated. I'm totally cool without one!

Mom (in her head): if only it were that easy...

actually, I was cringing for cranky betimes, crying out in the nights, and overall grumpiness...nope. She is a trooper. When I put her down for a nap, she looks at me expectantly and says, "binki?" I just tell her with as much sympathy in my voice: "sorry, binkis all gone". She whimpers a little, I walk out, shut the door and only have to listen to her cry for about 10 seconds. Sacrament meeting will be a different story, but I'll save that for another post...

Mother's Day Getaway

Gotta love rhyming titles...
Cousin Rachael got married on Saturday in the Logan temple. Rob (the adventurer) and I woke up early (really early) and drove to Logan to surprise Mom and Dad. I never knew how enjoyable driving can be sans the Lishlings. I also never knew that Rob can talk as much or more than myself. It was a great spring morning ride--Rob even let me drive part of the way.
When we came into Logan, we began calling around for someone to give us directions to the temple. As soon as we got the right numbers, we came up to the intersection with the temple smack in front of us. It was great. We were early enough that we enjoyed greeting all the family that showed up. The surprise for mom and dad was the best.

Here's Mark and Christie and family

Mom, Mike and Tami

Rob, the adventurer, Mel and Me

The wedding ceremony was beautiful--as were the bride and groom. It was great to see cousins and uncles and aunts and bask in that reunion atmosphere. The reception was at uncle John's. Good food, good company and fun games. I'm so happy I could be there. A big thanks to my wonderful husband who took care of the chillin' all day. It was a great mother's day getaway!!

Have to share what Andrew gave me for mother's day:

Moms are inportant and loveley
Outstanding at cooking
The wafles she makes are the best and she teaches peano
Her voice is so buitful and she gives hugs
Exelenent at dressing up
Remembers lots of stuff and my name

Birthday and Baptism

Our cute sugar booger turned eight.
His birthday was on a Wednesday and he was SO excited to go to cub scouts for the first time (Thank you G. Weaver for his new wolf book!)

For those of you who speak Avatar: yes, this my attempt at the Earth Kingdom symbol. What would Tof say if she could see this...oh, wait. Did you know that my parents have sucessfully joined the Avatar fan league?? It only took them one week to watch all three books. (even my dad who hardly watches any TV)

Andrew's baptism was Saturday. What a great time! Family and friends came to be with him on his special day. I have been to many baptisms in the last two years and was privy to the sweet spirit that accompanies this special ordinance. Saturday was no exception. But I realized I have been missing something even more powerful--the confirmation. It was an amazing experience. Mostly because my friend scooped up cranky, whiney Kamryn and left the room right before the prayer. (Thanks, Briana!!!) I felt like the room was vibrating with the spirit. It was very cool.

Grandma Lish and the crew. She got to wrestle with Kamryn while mom played prelude. Thanks, Neva!!

Ice cream at Dairy Queen afterwards.

Congratulations Andrew! We love you so much!
