A Blink Bio of Binki Baby

Mom: Okay Kam...you are almost two. C'mon it's time to throw your binki away.
Kam: WHAT! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?
Mom: Nope, say goodbye.
Kam: Ex-keee-use ME!
Kam: Do I look like I am ready to say goodbye to my binki?
Mom: too bad so sad...it's gone.
Kam: Hmm...well, at least I still have these cool shades.

Kam: Man, where did all these fingerprints come from?

Kam: okay mom...I've thought it over. You're right. Binkis are SO overrated. I'm totally cool without one!

Mom (in her head): if only it were that easy...

actually, I was cringing for cranky betimes, crying out in the nights, and overall grumpiness...nope. She is a trooper. When I put her down for a nap, she looks at me expectantly and says, "binki?" I just tell her with as much sympathy in my voice: "sorry, binkis all gone". She whimpers a little, I walk out, shut the door and only have to listen to her cry for about 10 seconds. Sacrament meeting will be a different story, but I'll save that for another post...

Ah, the eternal binkie debate. Good luck for Sacrament meeting. I'm glad it has gone well so far. She's such a cute little girl!

Not one of my kids would take a binkie. I begged and pleaded, but none of them seemed to see the point of sucking on something that didn't give you FOOD. *sigh* I guess the one benefit is I don't have to ween them off of that as well as the bottle (which is their favorite thing).

Good luck in church! *crosses fingers*

Great dialogue! You gave me a good laugh. I hope she gets through her binki mourning period quickly- for your sake and hers!

so totally empathize with you! and wonderful and pacifiers are--getting rid of them can be the trauma....when jack started getting "up there" in the age depot. i limited its usage to ONLY in bed....so if he wanted it and it wasn't naptime or bedtime....too bad! and then after a while i would start hiding them and saying that i couldn't find them...and he just out grew it....i think that (for me) limiting it was a good idea and a good way to slowly wean him off the pacifier.
good luck at church this week! ;-)

And how was Sacrament Meeting. You know mom, you only have one stage in your life to love adore and acceptably use a THE binki. Haha ;) -do you really know what your asking her to give-up now.
I am teasing, I too have been there done that but it was my husband that was more ready to give it up for the kids than the kids.
